Dr. Nicole Papa graduated in Functional Genomics (molecular biology) and she got the doctorate degree in “Reproductive and Developmental Sciences” at the University of Trieste (Italy). She’s now working at the Genetics Department of “Institute for Maternal and Child Health” in Trieste on a project that concerns rare human genetic diseases that predispose to hematological neoplasms. The PhD course was funded by the European Social Fund (ESF) so she had the opportunity to attend a internship at Zebrabiores Research Centre of University of Santiago de Compostela, Galicia (Spain). It was aimed at acquiring skills and knowledge on CRISPR-Cas9, morpholino DNA editing technologies and xenografts in zebrafish models, in order to bring innovation to her reasearch field as well as to create opportunities for new collaborations on cancer research.
